For the ones that use the K2 theme for their Wordpress blog i thought it would be nice to let them know that a new revision has been made to this great theme and has been made available to the public. Of course i am talking about the Nightly build.

K2 is more than a theme (i like to think of it more like an engine that completes Wordpres itself) for the simple fact that it allows you to select different styles for the interface and has some absolutely wonderful features like the following:

  • User-friendly.
  • Admin-friendly.
  • 100% open source.
  • Semantic XHTML, CSS and JS structure.
  • Supports custom CSS files, the so-called ’styles’.
  • Smart layout adapts to needs.
  • Fully configureable from options page.
  • Upload and manage custom headers.
  • Sidebar Modules comes bundled (with special K2 modules) and support WordPress Widgets.
  • Live comment posting.
  • Livesearch.
  • Rolling Archives.
  • Dozens of plugins supported out-of-the-box.
  • Fam fam fam icons

I can’t go any further without putting the spotlight on these great AJAX-powered features: Live Commenting, Livesearch and the least but not the last: Rolling Archives. The good part is that this theme doesn’t need any third-party plugins, but it also has native support for the plugins listed here.One more thing that many Wordpress themes don’t get to have is a dedicated forum for the ones who care to know more things about this great theme or just want to customise it’s look and touch.

Another great thing is it’s Bug Tracker and the list with it’s official styles and mods. This project is managed just like an open-source program which is truly amazing.
